I am an ecologist focused on understanding the evolutionary origins and ecological consequences of phenotypic variation. I use natural and human-disturbed ecosystems to identify eco-evolutionary processes and their effects on population persistence and ecological function. My varied research program often draws upon invasive species and food web perspectives to illustrate these effects. Across the diversity of systems and approaches I employ, my research typically reflects two questions: (1) How do evolutionary and ecological processes interact?, and (2) What are the effects of anthropogenic change on these complex systems?
